At Home, Anywhere: What Stays With You When Everything Changes

When the walls change, what stays the same? It's a deceptively simple question — the kind that sounds almost like a riddle until it lands somewhere personal. On the morning of June 5th, WHISK hosted a curated breakfast panel, At Home, Anywhere, inside Fyrn's sun-drenched industrial showroom on Alabama Street, and that question hung in the air for the better part of two hours.

The morning was made possible by a group of partners whose work collectively defines what it means to feel at home — in a space, at a table, in a city.

Fyrn opened their Alabama Street showroom as the venue, and the space set the tone perfectly: raw beams, considered light, handcrafted furniture built to last decades. Sitting in a Fyrn chair, it's hard not to think about what it means to invest in the things around you.

Hedge Coffee kept everyone alert and well-caffeinated throughout the morning. Their beans were the quiet backbone of the event — the thing that got people through the door and kept conversations going long after the panel wrapped.

Dandelion Chocolate provided a chocolate pairing that felt indulgent for 9:30am and entirely right. Their bean-to-bar approach — tracing every chocolate back to a single origin — mirrored the morning's themes in the best way: knowing where something comes from changes how you experience it.

b.Patisserie pastry and infamous Kouign Amann

Fellow supplied the brewing equipment, because a great cup of coffee deserves the right tools. Their presence was a reminder that ritual is in the details — the weight of a kettle, the sound of a pour.

Heath Ceramics provided the vessels the morning was served in. There's something about drinking from a Heath mug that slows you down a little. Their ceramics have been on San Francisco tables for decades, and they felt right at home among Fyrn's furniture and the morning's conversation about place and belonging.

Maggie Spicer moderated the panel, guiding Kelley Perumbeti of Office of Tangible Space, Alex Sobal of Hedge Coffee, and Todd Masonis of Dandelion Chocolate through a conversation about carrying identity, hospitality, and a sense of place into new environments. The discussion was thoughtful, unhurried, and exactly the kind of morning we wanted to create.
